26.08.04 - Ernst Basler + Partner supports the Canton of Schaffhausen to redesign the Schaffhausen Süd intersection to reduce traffic for the Klettgau region.

The opening of the national route A4 in Schaffhausen in 1996 lead to traffic shifts and, as a consequence, sharp increases in traffic in Neuhausen am Rheinfall and on the access road to the Schaffhausen-Süd intersection.

In order to enable the districts of Neuhausen and Klettgau to develop further, a reduction of traffic is needed in the relevant area. The solution lies in the redesign of the Schaffhausen Süd intersection, giving a direct connection via the Galgenbuck tunnel in the direction of Klettgau. In December 2001, the Federal Roads Office instructed the canton of Schaffhausen to elaborate the preliminary project and, in December 2005, to prepare the construction project.

Under the instructions of the Cantonal Civil Engineering Office, and together with their overall project managers, Ernst Basler + Partner AG procured the necessary services for the project and supported the construction project ownership in the leadership of the project team during the whole project planning and approvals process.
