15.06.10 - The sectoral energy plan is compiled and spatial content transferred to structure plan for energy.

In 2008 the Canton of Berne requested Ernst Basler + Partner to draw up a sectoral energy plan and energy content relating to the structure plan. The plan summarises the available data for all existing and planned energy infrastructure facilities. These facilities for generation, transmission and utilisation of energy are described with regard to the spatial relations involved. Conflicts can arise at a few sites of energy infrastructure facilities between different utilisation types or between energy and protection of public interests. These will be identified and described in the sectoral energy plan. Decisions on location are based on strategic principles of the cantons and are aimed at sustainable development.In the interest of simplification and acceleration of the process the Directorate responsible has decided in April 2010 to dispense with a separate sectoral plan on energy. The contents and measures of the draft, which are of importance at a canton level and require a superordinated coordination process, will be transferred directly to the cantonal structure plan.
