The significance of renewable energies for the supply of heat and electricity is growing, and the expansion of renewable energies is triggering structural change in the economy. As a result of current energy policy developments, high global growth rates are to be expected, with corresponding export potential for Swiss companies.

Under the instructions of the Swiss Federal Energy Office (BFE), and working together with Rütter + Partner and the Fraunhofer Institute for Systems and Innovation Research, we are examining the economic significance of renewable energies in Switzerland. In addition, the investigations at a cantonal level requested by the cantons of Bern, Thurgau, Schaffhausen and Aargau are being intensified.

The significance of the use of renewable energies for the Swiss economy is being demonstrated on the basis of figures such as gross added value, employment and export volumes, taking account of the developments to date and development scenarios to 2020.
