Master plan for solar heating 2035

Solar heating can make a significant contribution to the energy transition, but its major potential is considerably below being fully exploited. The master plan shows how 10 per cent of the heating requirement can be provided by solar energy by 2035.

After several years of growth, the solar heating market in Switzerland has been stagnating for the last three years. Against this background, the Swissolar umbrella organisation wants to trigger an upward trend for solar heating. The aim is for ten per cent of Switzerland’s heating requirement to be provided by solar heating by 2035.

Instructed by Swissolar, we have drawn up the master plan with a support group made up of a broad membership (working together with NET Nowak Energie & Technologie). The basis was formed by 32 interviews with those involved and other experts. The master plan analyses the market, investigates the obstacles preventing a rapid expansion of solar heating and, within the framework of an overall strategy, shows which sectors of the market should be prioritised for development and which specific measures are needed to achieve the objective.
