The brochure «Disasters and Emergencies in Switzerland 2015»

Whether natural catastrophes, major accidents or terrorist attacks, there is no reason to believe that Switzerland enjoys any sort of immunity against a wide range of destructive events and emergency situations. The risk associated with such events and the possible consequences are now illustrated in a highly accessible brochure.

What kind of disasters and emergencies could Switzerland face? What damage would they cause? What can we do to minimise the risk and mitigate the losses? These are the key questions for the Swiss civil protection system. The National Risk Report «Disasters and Emergencies in Switzerland» provides an important foundation to address these questions.

Making use of the extensive work of our colleagues in our Security Division, we have drafted a highly accessible and informative brochure to accompany the National Risk Report for 2015.

The brochure summarises the findings contained in the National Risk Report, outlines the broad-based approach taken by the report’s authors to arrive at their conclusions and shows how the report can now be used as a basis for preparedness planning. The brochure offers clear and intuitive graphics to illustrate the most serious of the known risks for Switzerland. Short, informative texts offer background information to key risk analyses. The brochure thereby offers an easily accessible summary of the National Risk Report to interested members of the public.
