Building Award for New Swisscom Business Park

The Building Award was conferred for the first time on 18 June 2015 in Lucerne. The purpose of the award is to pay tribute to outstanding, remarkable and innovative engineering achievements in the building sector. EBP won the award in the "Building Systems Engineering" category, and was also nominated in the "Energy" category.

The Swisscom Business Park in Ittigen near Bern is a showcase structure that was meticulously planned and built according to the principles of sustainable architecture. One of the main features that distinguishes this new MINERGIE-P building is the finely-tuned harmonisation of the installed building services with the building itself. This has given rise to a holistic architectural solution that impressively combines maximum energy efficiency and the highest level of comfort. The cornerstones of the development include an innovative ventilation concept; an ingenious energy management system that includes the seasonal storage of energy in a geothermal probe field; air conditioning without the use of chillers; and the maximum use of waste heat via directly water-cooled IT components.

EBP developed the energy and ventilation concept for the building and was responsible for designing all its service systems. We have now entered our project in the "Building Award" competition in the "Energy" and "Engineering/Building Services" categories. The awards will be conferred this year for the first time, to recognise outstanding contributions in the field of construction engineering. We are naturally delighted to have been nominated in two categories and to have won the award for outstanding Building Systems Engineering.
