Project

Bypass construction

The project centered on the planning work for an approximately 4-kilometer bypass road to relieve the Swiss town of Aarwangen of excessive highway-bound passenger and heavy-vehicle traffic. While the bypass road is to be built largely at ground level, the route will include a 480-meter bridge across the Aare River and a 500-meter tunnel. Working together with the Locher engineering firm, we completed the planning for the bypass, including all of its engineering structures. While completing our work, we devoted special attention to protecting the sensitive, distinctive, and biodiverse habitat of the Aare region. This was achieved with special solutions and extensive conservation measures.
