Project

Citycenter Rapperswil

The Zurich-based architectural firm Loeliger Strub was recently awarded one of the biggest development contracts to date in the Rose Garden City of Rapperswil. The project centers on the construction of a combined commercial and residential building that is to house 100 apartments and various cafes and retail stores across a floor space of around 8,500 m2. For its part, EBP was commissioned by the architectural firm to provide support in the planning and construction of the façade.

The solid part of the façade for the seven-story building will essentially consist of prefab concrete elements and ceramic-covered balustrades. Exterior insulation-and-finish systems will be applied in connection with all of the façade’s larger surfaces.

Large metal window casements and entrance doors are planned for the ground-floor level. In contrast, the window casements for the upper office and apartment levels are to be made of a combination of wood and metal. Owing to the relatively heavy traffic along the nearby Neuen Jonastrasse, all of the windows will be designed to meet very strict sound-insulation specifications. The exterior vertical and sloped fabric awnings will be integrated into the transparent façade to serve as protection against the sun.
