Crime prevention assessment at a town recreational site in Uster

In the wake of repeated incidents involving property damage and excessive littering at a lakeside recreational site in 2020 and 2021, we were commissioned by the Swiss town of Uster to examine the site in terms of safety, noise pollution, and orderliness. After conducting our examination, we applied the method known as crime prevention through environmental design (CPTED) to draft specific proposals for improving the situation. This included recommendations for long-term maintenance to the public barbecue facilities at the site.

Our services

  • Analysis of the current situation, including a review of all relevant media reports and site inspections by day and night
  • Conducting interviews with members of the Uster police department and representatives of other city departments
  • Comprehensive assessment of the site's safety, noise pollution, and orderliness
  • Drafting of proposals and recommendations involving infrastructure/technology, organization, communication/information, and legal aspects
