The economic significance of renewable energy

Working on behalf of the Swiss Federal Office of Energy (SFOE), Rütter Soceco, now part of EBP, examined the economic significance of the renewable-energy sector in Switzerland. To complete our study, we estimated the sector’s share of Switzerland’s gross domestic product, total exports, and jobs, as well the Swiss sector’s relative competitiveness compared to other countries. We also provided the cantons of Aargau, Bern, Schaffhausen, Solothurn, and Thurgau with assessments of the economic significance of renewable energy at a cantonal level.
