Fire protection for the new “Living Frames” residential complex in Basel

Work on the “Living Frames” residential-development project has begun at a former commercial site (Hardstrasse 43) in Basel. EBP was tapped to complete the fire-protection planning for the new residential complex.

A number of the existing depots at the site are to be converted to apartments and ateliers, while three others will be replaced entirely with new residential buildings. A two-story underground parking garage presented a special challenge, especially when it came to planning its smoke-extraction system and escape routes according to demanding specifications.

The above-ground space limitations also required special consideration given the need to ensure sufficient site access for fire-department vehicles. However, thanks to our experience and expertise, we were able to work out tailor-made solutions for our client.
