Kocani Waste Water Treatment Project

EBP actively supports the city of Kocani in North Macedonia with the planning, engineering, tendering and implementation of new wastewater infrastructure including a wastewater treatment plant for 65’000 Population Equivalents (PE) and provides corporate development support for the water utility.

Switzerland is supporting North Macedonia's transition to an inclusive social market economy as part of the country’s European integration. A key element is the support of reform processes related to water management. The State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO) is co-financing the Kocani Wastewater Treatment Project with a grant of about CHF 25 million.

EBP supports this important infrastructure project with project planning, preliminary and final design, tendering, contracting, construction supervision and putting into operation of a new Waste Water Treatment Plant (WWTP) for 65’000 PE, the construction of a new sewage collector of a length of twelve kilometer and the purchase of equipment for the operation and maintenance of the sewage infrastructure.

In addition, EBP strengthens the institutional and technical capacity of the public utility by implementing in close collaboration with the utility a corporate development program, including business and investment planning, the upgrade of the computerized financial management system, the implementation of a Network Information System (NIS) as well as public awareness rising and customer relation measures.
