Minimum Standard Geospatial Data Models in INTERLIS

Various federal agencies rely on the bundled expertise and IT competence of EBP when it comes to the creation of minimum standard geospatial data models.

The aim of minimum standard geospatial data models is to facilitate general access to essential geospatial data and to promote the harmonisation of geospatial data so as to secure greater interoperability among key authorised users. This aim is enshrined in the Swiss Geographic Information Act (GeoIG). EBP has been commissioned to support various federal agencies, including the Federal Roads Office (FEDRO), Federal Office for the Environment (FOEN), and the Swiss Federal Statistical Office (FSO) in pursuance of this objective.

We provide both the project-related expertise our clients need (e.g. in the areas of water management, federal motorway planning, incident risk analysis) and extensive know-how in the area of data modelling. Working together with the key geospatial information stakeholders, we define the structure and the level of detail for each model. In the process, we create all of the relevant documentation and formal descriptions in INTERLIS. Our remit is to we draft a position statement for the relevant specialist agencies following consultation, as well as supporting the cantonal agencies with model testing. On behalf of these agencies, we also develop data models for data acquisition and INTERLIS-based export tools.

Thanks to our specialists in the field of geoinformatics and in other project-related fields, we are able to provide solutions that take account of industry specifications, data exchange requirements and the intricacies of geographic information systems. We are a single provider that is capable of providing a comprehensive range of services. This enables our customers to profit from efficient channels of communication and expeditious decision-making procedures.
