Monitoring the storage of CO2 in concrete granulate

The development of a new storage technology has enabled the Swiss-based company Zirkulit AG to permanently store CO₂ in concrete granulate. Approaches to carbon capture of this sort have so far not met the criteria established by the Swiss Federal Office for the Environment (FOEN) for inclusion in carbon-offset programs. We’re currently helping the company establish compliance with the specifications and gain approval for private-sector offset projects. As a FOEN-approved validation and verification agency, it is our job to secure the quality of reduction certificates and monitor the amounts of carbon stored in the Zirkulit® concrete granulate.
