The insulation calculator gives real-estate developers and homebuilders a quick and convenient means of determining the ideal insulation thickness for a building, depending on the heating systems and insulation material used.
Working together with the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts, EBP developed an online tool which enables users to quickly and conveniently calculate optimal insulation thickness. The tool’s ease of operation and attractive look gives its users an easy and engaging means of tackling this complex issue.
User friendliness despite technical complexity
The insulation calculator is easy to use and delivers quick results. Users can complete calculations and then introduce other criteria without having to start all over. As a result, users gain an immediate understanding of the relationship between insulation material, heating system and individually selected ambient temperature. The tool also gives the user background information about individual insulation options and how these will have an impact on energy use, efficiency and overall environmental impact.
The tool’s users can specify priorities – for instance, whether their main concern is primary energy use or environmental impact. Depending on their specific needs, tool users can determine optimal insulation values. Other data that are factored into the calculation include location, embodied energy and the service life of the selected heating systems and insulation materials.
A playful approach to awakening target-group interest
While the main target group is real-estate developers who are given the opportunity of using the insulation calculator as an initial playful point of contact with the issue of insulation, the tool is also an ideal facilitator for planners in the context of sales and support.
The tool is available in three languages: German, Italian and French.
