Setup and operation of a Swiss network to promote corporate resource efficiency and to enable environmental impact assessments. The aim of Reffnet is to help companies identify opportunities to improve their resource efficiency and to exploit these opportunities by implementing corresponding measures.

In the framework of its “Green Economy Action Plan” from March 8, 2013, the Swiss Federal Council moved to create a “Network to Promote Corporate Resource Efficiency” (Measure 11) in the non-energy sector.

The Reffnet network is made available by the Reffnet Association whose members include WERZ, PUSCH, FHNW-ZEF, ZüstEngineering, Effizienzagentur and ACT. Working on behalf of Reffnet, EBP is responsible for monitoring the impact of the resource-efficiency measures on the environment.

The main aim of the Reffnet Network is to improve corporate resource efficiency and to monitor the resulting positive impact on the environment. In order to achieve this aim, companies are called upon to identify opportunities to increase the resource efficiency of their operations and to exploit these opportunities by implementing corresponding measures. Reffnet supports the companies by helping them to identify opportunities and corresponding measures and to devise appropriate means of implementing the measures. The companies can also obtain further assistance by consulting the Reffnet internet platform or going to a Reffnet office.

Working on behalf of Reffnet, EBP is responsible for monitoring and documenting the impact of the implemented measures on the environment. Recording and reporting such results can also be expected to help researchers ascertain the need for future innovation.
