Risk Assessment for Locally Operated Electric Railroad Switches

EBP helps DB Netz AG to evaluate risks and derive new safety requirements for locally operated electric railroad switches.

Locally operated electric railroad switches are railroad switches with an electric power unit. They are used in locations where locally operated mechanical switches are not sufficient. The old specifications for locally operated electric switches lost their validity when the standard (2004) they were based on was withdrawn. This has made it necessary to derive new safety requirements based on current standards and guidelines.

EBP is providing the following services on behalf of
DB Netz AG:

  • Support in the evaluation and derivation of new safety requirements
  • Consulting in connection with planning issues
  • Documentation reviews, supplementary presentations, written reports relating to methodological aspects and requirement rationales.
