Simply calculate climate-friendly catering services

The Consumer Protection Agency of North Rhine-Westphalia has taken on the task of helping the German state’s schools, kindergartens, and youth hostels make their catering services more climate-friendly. As a part of this effort, the agency commissioned us to develop a convenient Excel tool to calculate carbon emissions from catering services. The tool we developed takes account of the various factors (e.g. food waste and climate-friendly menus) and allows its users to directly ascertain the carbon impact of proposed and implemented measures.
