The Swiss Federal Office of Energy (SFOE) conferred the Watt d’Or, a prestigious Swiss energy award, for the tenth time on 7 January 2015. EBP won the award in the Buildings & Space category in recognition of its showcase Swisscom Business Park project in Ittigen.
The Watt d’Or is a seal of quality for energy excellence that is conferred by the SFOE. The aim of the award is to pay tribute to achievements in the area of sustainable energy and to thereby inspire business leaders, policymakers and the general public to discover the advantages of innovative energy technologies. A total of 49 applications were entered in the competition, with the jury then selecting five winning projects in various categories. EBP won the award in the Building & Space category. On 7 January 2016, we were proud to receive the Watt d’Or trophy in Bern before an audience of hundreds of media and Swiss energy industry representatives.
We were awarded the prize for excellence in connection with our Swisscom Business Park project in Ittigen near Bern, a showcase building that was designed and constructed in full accordance with the principles of sustainable architecture. The building systems engineering installed in this new MINERGIE-P construction was designed in complete alignment with the building itself, and this concept, together with the novel lung-like ventilation system, has produced a remarkable and exemplary overall design. The new building not only distinguishes itself in terms of its energy efficiency and comfort, but also in terms of its associated costs and operational security.
