Cantonal responses to the droughts of 2015, 2018 and 2022
The years 2015, 2018 and 2022 were marked by prolonged periods of dry weather, with various municipalities in Switzerland facing significant urban and agricultural water-supply shortages. We assisted the Swiss Federal Office for the Environment (FOEN) in developing a survey to gather information from the relevant cantonal agencies on the impact the droughts had on their capacity to maintain their supply and distribution of water. We then drafted reports to describe both the short-term measures implemented and any long-term strategies and instruments adopted for the purpose of managing drought conditions.

- Co-development and evaluation of a survey of cantonal water management agencies to ascertain their responses to prolonged dry weather in 2015, 2018 and 2022
- Targeted examination of media reports and validation through hydrological data
- Documentation of findings and drafting of three short reports, which were published in 2016, 2019 and 2023 respectively (see links below)
