The Paris Agreement created a foundation for addressing climate change. Its aim is to limit global warming to well below 2 °C compared to preindustrial levels. When the Swiss Federal Council passed a resolution in the summer of 2019 to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050, it reinforced Switzerland’s commitment to the Paris Agreement. Indeed, in order to lower GHG emissions in Switzerland, the various cantons and municipalities are called upon to play a crucial role.
