Climate change is one of the most important concerns facing the world today. In a federal response, it is also essential for cantons and municipalities to take action – and this not only since the signing of the Paris Agreement and the Swiss Federal Council’s resolution to achieve climate neutrality by 2050.
We support cantonal agencies and municipalities when it comes to developing well-calibrated climate-mitigation and energy-efficiency strategies.
The Paris Agreement created a foundation for addressing climate change. Its aim is to limit global warming to well below 2 °C compared to preindustrial levels. It thereby also sets an ambitious goal for the reduction of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. When the Swiss Federal Council passed a resolution in the summer of 2019 to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050, it reinforced Switzerland’s commitment to the Paris Agreement. That being said, it is clear that the Swiss government cannot achieve this goal on its own. Indeed, in order to lower GHG emissions in Switzerland, the various cantons and municipalities are called upon to play a crucial role.
We support you when it comes to:
- Developing climate-change-mitigation and energy-efficiency strategies
- Defining mitigation goals for the achievement of carbon neutrality
- Developing general and sector-specific (building, transportation, industry, etc.) reduction paths for cantons and municipalities
- Developing specific measures to facilitate the achievement of defined goals
